Fort Totten- Cankdeska Cikana Community College (CCCC) Adult Learning Center celebrates student success! “This was a long time coming, because of COVID, we have not been able hold any ceremonies, but today we are,” commented Lois Leben, Adult Learning Center Director, to a packed room on the CCCC campus. Since fall of 2019 to spring of 2022, the CCCC Adult Learning Center had twenty-three community members complete the GED testing.

Man sentenced to life in prison for death of five-year-old

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — One of the two people involved in the death of a five-year-old girl on the Spirit Lake Reservation has been sentenced to life in prison. Chief Judge Peter Welte handed down the sentence to Erich Longie, Jr. of Tokio, North Dakota in federal court. Longie, Jr. plead guilty multiple felony charges involving First-Degree Felony Murder, Child Abuse and Child Neglect.

Life sentence for Tokio man in death of foster child

BISMARCK, N.D. (KMOT) – A federal judge has sentenced a Tokio man to life in prison for his role in the death of a five-year-old foster child in his care in May 2020. Federal prosecutors said Erich Longie, Jr. pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder within Indian country, as well as three counts of child abuse in Indian Country, and one count of child neglect in Indian Country.
