Growing up in small town America is never easy. Rural Oklahoma life in the 20th century usually consisted of driving tractors, milking cows, baling and hauling hay, farming and scraping to get by most of the time. Theron and Jan Godwin, as most parents, wanted a better life for their children. To them, education was the solution.

Jimmy was born on Jan. 26, 1932, in Hennepin, to the late Robert L. and Willie V. (Smith) Schultz. He died on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Davis, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 26 days. Jimmy and the former Ms. Linda Jo Lathum were married on Jan. 8, 1965, in Gainesville, Texas.

East Central University will close in observance of Independence Day on Monday, July 4. Offices will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. ECU’s Linscheid Library and the Tommy Hewett M.D. Wellness Center will also be closed for the holiday. The library reopens at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, and the Wellness Center reopens at 6 a.m. that morning.

Services for Bobby Joe Ingram, 89, of Tupelo were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Tupelo Church of Christ, Bryant Naquin officiated with Wendell and Daniel Ingram assisting.
