Coleman Fire Department hosts annual fundraiser

COLEMAN, Okla. (KTEN) — The Coleman Volunteer Fire Department invited residents from Johnston County to a baked potato meal and pie auction fundraiser on Sunday. "It is imperative that we have these fundraisers so that we have operational funds for equipment," said Capt. Trevor Dean. "Fuel is a big factor this time of year with the economy."

Phil Barnes of Duncan, Dick Villaflor of Deer Creek-Edmond and Skip Griese of Ada are legendary coaches in Oklahoma high school tennis. The trio has been named national coach of the year a combined five times. They have won a combined 55 boys and girls state team championships. Davis Wolves End Baseball Season

The Davis baseball season came to an end this past weekend at the Class 3A Regional Tournament in Tulsa, but not before the Wolves created a little chaos. Davis opened the tournament May 6 with a thrilling extra-inning upset of host and number-one seed Metro Christian. The Wolves advanced to the winner’s bracket May 7 but were eliminated in back-to-back losses to Bethel and Comanche.


Davis Fifth Grade parents hosted a bake sale to benefit the Elementary Vocal Program. Dustin Horn, owner of Davis Tire and Automotive, placed the winning bid on a beautiful cake baked by fifth grade parent Jessica Womack. David Huggins, brother of elementary vocal teacher Denise White, purchased a cake for $100 at the sale too. In less than 4 hours a total of $1,100 was made at the sale.
