Roma LaVee Broderick Thomas passed away May 20, 2022 in Santaquin, Utah at the age of 90. She was born to Cloy L and Anna Mortensen Broderick on August 9, 1931 in Emery, Utah. Roma spent her childhood in Eureka and Delta, and cherished her memories of growing up with her siblings and cousins. She mentioned playing games in the street like Run Sheepie Run, Kick the Can and others. Her family loved being at Fishlake and enjoyed many, many camping trips there, fishing for hours. Growing up during the Great Depression taught her to be frugal and make the most of everything, a trait she carried on throughout her life.

Eleven student athletes from Carbon and Emery High Schools awarded Academic All-State Honors

Eleven student-athletes from both Carbon and Emery High Schools were recently awarded Academic All-State honors for the Spring sports season by the Utah High School Activities Association. This award celebrates those that have excelled in both the classroom and on the field of play. All student-athletes that maintain a 4.0 GPA qualify.
