June (Sciuchetti) Donaldson, 85, of Lewistown passed away peacefully of natural causes at Central Montana Medical Center with her daughter Lynn by her side on Oct. 10, 2020—five months after losing her beloved husband of 54 years, Harold, to complications from a fall. A joint memorial service will be held for the couple at the Denton Town Hall on June 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following.

For 1,400 days, rain or shine, Helen Kendall of Hilger has reported the weather. A member of a small but dedicated group, Kendall is a weather observer for the National Weather Service. Using weather station instruments provided by the Service, Kendall sends data about the temperature and precipitation every day.

Lack of seekers still main challenge in local job market

Not much has changed on the Lewistown job market after a year of COVID-19. There are still a variety of jobs available, and a lot of them. “Right now, there’s over 180 jobs available,” said Christine Solheim, Workforce Consultant for the Lewistown Job Service. “That is a little bit higher than what we would usually see in the spring.”

Donna was born in Lewistown, Montana, on March 15, 1926, to William and Ellen (Anderson) Benes and died May 2, 2021. The family lived first in a log house in the Judith Mountains and later in a little house on the prairie north of Hilger, Montana. She attended schools in Moulton, Hilger and Christina. Following graduation from Fergus County High School, Donna worked at the Bon Ton and then the Fergus Creamery in Lewistown.
