NEW YORK — UAB Health System CEO Dr. Selwyn Vickers has been named the new president and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Vickers, 62, of Demopolis, Ala., is a world-renowned surgeon, pancreatic cancer researcher, a pioneer in health disparities research and a member of the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Vickers became dean of the Heersink School of Medicine in 2013 and was named CEO of UAB Health System and UAB/Ascension St. Vincent’s Alliance in January 2022. He was a member of the UAB surgical faculty from 1994 to 2006.
