New dress code outlaws dresses and skirts in Texas school district

A North Texas school district instituted new dress codes, barring students from wearing hoodies, dresses or clothing with stripes, checks, lettering, wording, or other designs. School administrators are also expected to examine clothes beneath the surface, to ensure sufficient underclothing and undershirts are one of the approved solid colors, with no printing or designs, according to the 7-page guideline issued by the school district.

American comfort food eatery Ford's Garage opened its new Plano location June 13. (William C. Wadsack/Community Impact Newspaper) Ford’s Garage opened June 13 at 3904 Dallas Parkway, Plano. Styled like a 1920s service station with vintage Ford vehicles, gas pumps and fixtures, Ford’s Garage offers gourmet burgers and American comfort food entrees, such as meatloaf, chili, and macaroni and cheese, according to the eatery’s website. It also offers a variety American craft beers, wine and cocktails. The restaurant is in the building formerly occupied by Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe, which closed in December 2019 after 20 years of service at that location. According to a listing on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s website, Ford’s Garage did an estimated $1 million in renovation work on the building. 469-940-3673. www.fordsgarageusa.com.

National Food Truck Day celebrates mobile meals

June 24 (UPI) -- National Food Truck Day, celebrated annually on the fourth Friday in June, was originally celebrated in October and was founded by a Texas radio DJ. The holiday was inaugurated on Oct. 11, 2015, by Rick McNeely, aka DJ Rick, a radio personality for the Fishbowl Radio Network in Arlington, Texas. The holiday was designed to celebrate and promote food trucks, which gained newfound popularity in the 2000s.
