Genevieve Elaine Byers, 93, of Neoga, Illinois formerly of Effingham, Illinois passed away May 16, 2022 in the Heartland Senior Living Center in Neoga, Illinois. Genny was born April 19, 1929 in Smithboro, Illinois to Raymond and Aline (Leever) Keeler. Her two siblings were Lois and Clyde. Genny married Hira “Bud” Byers on November 21, 1948. They were happily married for almost seventy-four years. Their children are Brenda (Lou) Haskett of Neoga, Illinois, Nancy Miller of Toledo, Illinois and Patty Claybaugh of Mahomet, Illinois.

The Salem Fire Protection District reports a pickup truck was destroyed by fire late Monday afternoon. The truck owned by Steve McConnaughhay was parked near where he was farming in the 5900 block of Apple Ridge Road southeast of Salem when the engine caught fire. Bobby P. Campbell, age 86 of Odin, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Centralia Manor. Bobby was born on July 24, 1935, in Adair County, Kentucky the son of Raymond and Avis (Page) Campbell. He married Faye Sparks in 1955 in Columbia, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2020.
