George S. Rice Jr., age 93, of Glendive, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in the Intake Cemetery near Intake. Gary William Huncovsky, age 80, of Glendive, Montana, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, Montana. GLENDIVE - Tyra Coats came to ballpark and meant business tallying four hits and leading Dawson Community College to a 7-3 win over Miles Community College. Coats doubled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the fourth, and homered in the sixth to win the 2022 Mon-Dak Conference Championship, their 9th in 11 years.

Two of Glendive’s hotels have been going through transitions and since the start of the year, have officially rebranded after facing some significant troubles. The first of the hotels to rebrand was the former Comfort Inn, which became the Green Tree Inn and Suites when it came under new ownership back in January. The second Hotel, formerly the OYO, came under new ownership last year, but officially announced late in April that they will now be known as the Hotel Glendive.

The abatement of the demolished Ponderosa continues, this time with 25 invited entities to participate in a weeklong joint inspection of the scene next week. Ever since State of Montana Deputy Fire Marshal George Lane released his final investigation report of the Ponderosa fire on March 8 ruling the cause undetermined, Ponderosa owner Dave Bassi’s insurance company – Travelers Insurance – has held their own fire investigation.
