Two Arrested in Salamanca Drug Bust

Two Salamanca residents were taken into custody following a drug bust in the city on Tuesday. An investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force with assistance from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office led to a search warrant being executed at a residence on Conrath Avenue at about 5:30 PM. During the search, task force agents found scales, packaging materials, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. 24-year-old Tahya Ingersoll was arrested on two counts of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and released with appearance tickets, while 31-year-old Jesse Bartlett was arrested on a bench warrant and was held in the Cattaraugus County Jail.

Jamestown Woman Arrested in Stabbing Incident

A Jamestown woman was arrested after city police were called to a reported stabbing Saturday evening. Officers responded to an address on the city's west side at about 9:45 PM and determined that 29-year-old Lee Perez allegedly forcibly stole money and intentionally stabbed a victim with a knife. Perez was taken into custody without incident and charged with 1st-degree robbery, 2nd-degree assault, and 4th-degree criminal mischief. Perez is being held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Jamestown Police Searching for Missing Teen

The Jamestown Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing teenager. Police say 15-year-old Jaden Caraballo was last seen on Saturday at about 4:00 PM in the area of North Main Street and West 3rd Street at the Jamestown Pride event. Jaden is described as approximately 5'6" and 115 pounds with reddish brown hair and was last seen wearing exactly what is shown in the picture. Jamestown Man Facing Leandra's Law Charge in Town of Gerry

A Jamestown man was charged under Leandra's Law following a crash Friday evening in the Town of Gerry. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies were called to a location on County Route 380 shortly after 10:00 PM and located the vehicle. An investigation found that 32-year-old Julian Aponte, Sr. was allegedly intoxicated while driving the vehicle, which had a child passenger under the age of 16. Aponte was charged with DWI, felony DWI (Leandra's Law), endangering the welfare of a child, and moving from lane unsafely. He was later brought to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

Construction Complete on Northwest Arena Expansion Project

Construction has been completed on a $4.5 million expansion of the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. The project that began in 2019 enhances the area's facilities and ushers in the next era of programming at the organizations, which will celebrate its 20th year in 2022. The expansion included relocation and reconfiguration of staff office space, improvements to the Erie News Now Café, the addition of a snack bar immediately outside the entrance to Plyler Entry Systems B Rink, a custom storage solution for the ice bumper car fleet, major construction to the Jamestown Mattress Arena Club, the addition of a professional catering prep kitchen, and a three-story, 15,000-square-foot addition. The contractor was E.E. Austin & Son of Erie, PA, which also has a location in Falconer. The architect was Clark Patterson Lee of Jamestown. Northwest Arena Board Co-President David Leathers says, "We are so very thankful for our main funding organizations, the Gebbie Foundation and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. We are fortunate to have been able to design and construct this impressive building addition that will provide additional opportunities for arena programming, community service, support and outreach, and expanded collaboration with our neighbors from the National Comedy Center. Both the arena staff and board members are absolutely excited about the months and years ahead, as we begin to utilize this new addition and space."

Domestic Dispute Leads to Arrest of Gerry Man

State Police in Jamestown arrested a Gerry man Friday afternoon on multiple charges stemming from a domestic dispute. Troopers responded to a residence in Gerry for a report of an assault victim. An investigation revealed that during an argument that began Thursday night, 33-year-old Casey Saeger allegedly struck the female victim multiple times, burned her with a cigarette, used his hands to choke her when she tried yelling for help, and physically prevented her from leaving the residence for more than 15 hours. Saeger was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment on charges of 3rd-degree assault, 2nd-degree unlawful imprisonment, and two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. He is being held on $10,000 bail.

Cattaraugus County Reports One New COVID-19 Case for the Weekend

The Cattaraugus County Health Department reported one new confirmed COVID-19 case this weekend, bringing the county's total case number to 5,719 since the beginning of the pandemic. The new case, reported on Saturday, is located in the northeast part of the county. Meanwhile, the county's seven-day average infection rate is down to 0.2%, its lowest since August 20th, and the number of hospitalizations is three. Of the county's 5,719 total cases, seven are active, 5,605 have recovered, and 107 have died. As of Sunday, there are 25 county residents in quarantine.
