Flames Heavily Damage Vacant House in Forestville

Firefighters from several area departments spent over three hours battling a blaze that significantly damaged a vacant house in Forestville on Saturday. Forestville Fire responded to the 2 1/2-story building at 11024 Bennett State Road just after 8:30 AM and were later assisted by crews from Silver Creek, Sunset Bay, Hanover Center, Irving, Sheridan, Cassadaga, South Dayton, Perrysburg and the Seneca Nation. According to Forestville Fire, crews made an aggressive attack on the flames, but then a defensive attack ensued after fire conditions were too bad for them to continue. After an extended time battling the blaze from outside the house, firefighters went back inside to get the hot spots. There were no injuries reported in the blaze, which is now under investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office Fire Investigation Team. County Emergency Services and NYSEG were also on scene.

Brewery and Distillery Expands it’s Flagship

Steelbound Brewery and Distillery has big plans in the works for the future. The Steelbound group which currently hosts two locations, one in Ellicottville NY and one in Springville, NY is planning to expand to Dunkirk, NY (opening July 2022) with a site to open in the Clarion Hotel Marina & Conference Center and to Hamburg, NY (opening 2023) with a site to open next to Peg’s Place Restaurant. They have also just recently closed a deal with Las Vegas, NV to place a franchise in one of their hotels (Best Western). They are hoping to create in-room pour systems for those over the age of 21. Steelbound also has on-going talks with Toronto and Brampton, Ontario, CA and out in Ohio. Their flagship in Ellicottville will remain the pulse, owner Bill Bursee is planning to build a large 10,000 square foot, two story conference center and 74 room-hotel next to the brewery. There will be a 70 foot long, 50-foot-wide Sky Bridge connecting the hotel to the brewery where other intriguing events are developing. Business is booming and the franchise is brewing.

Planting A “Wishtree” To End The School Year In Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – Local school students finished out the year by planting a “Wishtree,” based on a book that the elementary kids spent the academic year reading. Lincoln Elementary School’s Principal Katie Russo says the curriculum took place at every elementary school in the district, as well as the tree planting ceremony.
