Man found dead inside home following 12-hour standoff in Parma

PARMA, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has responded to assist in the investigating of a standoff and a shooting in Parma. According to the Parma Police Department, an officer was in the area of State Rd. and Brookpark Rd. when he began pursuing the driver of a Dodge pick-up around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Vermilion man in critical condition after motorcycle crash

A Vermilion man is in critical condition at a Cleveland hospital following a motorcycle crash in Erie County on Sunday. According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Michael Sandy, 43, of Vermilion, was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Perkins Avenue around 8:10 p.m. Sunday. Arthur Cox, 42, of Sandusky, was driving a 2004 Acura south on a private drive. Cox turned west off the drive onto Perkins Avenue and was struck by Sandy, who appeared to be passing a vehicle in front of him that was turning right.

Man arrested for ‘beating on walls’ of apartment complex: Brunswick Hills Township Police Blotter

Police were called to an apartment at 11:04 p.m. May 24 for a loud noise complaint. The suspect, who is in the process of being evicted, was intoxicated when police arrived, reports said. He was told that his neighbors were complaining of him “beating on the walls” and police noted that there was a hole in the drywall next to where the man was sitting during the interview. The man reportedly began yelling obscenities about his neighbor and was cited for disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Medina County Jail.

3 killed, 4 injured during early morning shooting in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Three people died and four others were injured during an early Saturday shooting in Cleveland, authorities said. A 40-year-old man died at the scene, and two men, ages 40 and 36, died at an area hospital, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland reported. None of the victims have been identified, the newspaper reported, citing Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia.

Teen driver cited in rollover crash: Westlake Police Blotter

WESTLAKE, Ohio – Rollover crash: Hilliard Boulevard. Officers on June 7 responded to a report of a rollover crash on Hilliard Boulevard near Sts. Peter and George Church. A Porsche and a BMW collided on the road, causing the BMW to strike a flower box and a tree in the center median. The BMW rolled over. Only minor injuries were reported.

Twinsburg schools welcome new high school principal

TWINSBURG -- An assistant principal at Mayfield High School will take the reins as the new principal of Twinsburg High School in the new school year. On Thursday, the school board unanimously approved a two-year contract for Brian Linn, who will officially switch from being a Mayfield Wildcat to being a Twinsburg Tiger Aug. 1. His contract is through July 31, 2023. His salary will be $127,226 a year. The school board also approved a consultant contract for up to 20 days before July 31 at a per diem rate.
