Dorothy King, 93, of Lewiston

Mrs. Dorothy Garnett King Armstrong aged 93 years and 9 months, of Lewiston, transitioned to the next life on June 22, 2022. After enduring a short illness, she slipped peacefully into the waters of new life at her home on the lake with family close by. Dorothy, or as she liked to be called in later years, Dorie, was born on September 6, 1928 at her parents’ home on King Road.

Child Care Costs Are On The Rise

Child care costs have sky rocketed since the beginning of COVID– 19. According to, 72 percent of families spend at a least 10 percent of their income on child care. “Prices are going up a little bit and COVID-19 didn’t help for sure and now with gas prices going up literally everything is increasing,” said Debbie Choe, director of Small Wonders Academy in Hubbard Lake. “Finding good child care and good teachers to hire specifically at a school like ours you’re going to have to pay more unfortunately,”

Billy Hathaway, 85, of Lewiston

Mr. Billy Allen Hathaway, 85 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly on June 16, 2022 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 15, 1936 to the late, Jack and Madalene (Pipp) Hathaway. He married his wife, Leigh Ann (Damon) Hathaway in Brighton on September 20, 1958 and together the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing. Billy worked as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Brighton for 45 years, as a die setter for Advanced Stamping, as the Gate 4 ticket taker at the University of Michigan, and for Chem-tend as a mixer for 18 years before retiring.
