Police: Stabbing at teen's birthday in Hamilton may have been retaliation from assault in Colerain

FAIRFIELD, Ohio — A deadly stabbing at a teenager's birthday party in Hamilton may have been in retaliation to another attack at a different venue in Colerain Township. On May 7, uninvited guests showed up at the quinceanera which was held at the Hamilton FOP's rental hall. Shots were fired and four people were stabbed, including Ivan Israel Diaz, 20, who died from his injuries.

American Legion Post 1 in Wheeling has a new home. After several years of moving locations across the city, the post will settle in at the Italian American Club in Elm Grove. “The American Legion post needs a home to better contact our veterans,” Post 1 President John Powell said. “The motto of the American Legion is, ‘Veterans Strengthen America.’ If we don’t have contact with our veterans and we can’t get them the help that they need – and the counseling and the benefits that they deserve – then we’re lacking in our ability to strengthen America.

With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, I’m sure you’re all as eager as I am to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Take a step outside and you’re sure to find someone already enjoying one of their favorite hobbies like gardening, fishing, biking, photography and so on. Now, if you find me outside, you’ll probably find me on a run somewhere around the Wheeling area, either training for my next race or just to maintain physical fitness. Running hasn’t always been one of my favorite hobbies, though. There was a time in my life when the mere thought of exercising made me feel exhausted, but after making some lifestyle changes in college and reading up on the benefits of running, I started incorporating jogging a mile or so, as dull as it seemed back then, whenever I could fit it into my schedule.
