One Montgomery County town is still trying to rebound from the historic Schuylkill River flooding caused when the remnants of Hurricane Ida swept through two months ago. PHILADELPHIA - Forecasters expect conditions on Friday to be blustery and cold following surprisingly balmy early-December conditions on Thursday. Along with many other families, after Ida struck NJ, the Garber family lost their house, both cars, and many of their treasured possessions. After sheltering in their basement in Pennington, NJ, for most of the evening due to tornado warnings, Dave and Devon Garber came upstairs to notice rapidly increasing flood waters around their house, which quickly began to enter the basement. Fearing for their safety, they decided to evacuate the house.
If your car, home, or appliances were damaged by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, you could get thousands of dollars in assistance from FEMA, but time is running out to register. Having a snowless November is the norm for the Philadelphia region, but last month not much of anything fell from the skies around here — or in much of the nation. While the Pacific Northwest was being deluged by those “atmospheric rivers” channeling off the tropical Pacific Ocean, Philadelphia received officially a paltry 0.46 inches of rain in November, the lowest November total since 1976, when Gerald Ford was in the White House, and third-driest in records dating to 1871.
PHILADELPHIA — As temperatures drop along the mid-Atlantic coast, the Coast Guard urges all boaters to prepare for the water temperature, rather than the air temperature. Hypothermia occurs as your body temperature falls below 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The average water temp along the mid-Atlantic during the winter months is 53 degrees Fahrenheit, which can cause unconsciousness in about an hour with an estimated survivability between one and six hours.

Philadelphia Weather: Chance Of Light Snow Showers In Pennsylvania As Meteorological Winter Begins Wednesday
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The start of meteorological winter kicks off Wednesday, but winter weather arrived a day early before the unofficial start to the winter season. Light snow showers are making their way across the northern half of the region Tuesday. Grassy surfaces across the Lehigh Valley, Bucks County, and the Pocono Mountains could pick up about a half-inch of snow. A few flying flurries or spotty rain showers could sneak into our suburbs and pass I-95 through late afternoon. Radar is looking a lot more ominous than what is actually happening! A lot of the snow you see is evaporating before hitting the ground, thanks dry air. There are flurries in and around the Lehigh Valley including Bethlehem. Not a huge snow maker for us but it sure is pretty❄️😍 pic.twitter.com/9gham4Vnot — Llarisa Abreu (@LlarisaAbreu) November 30, 2021 Otherwise, Tuesday in Philadelphia promises to be cold, breezy, and mostly dry. On average, the first day of measurable snow in Philadelphia is Dec. 9. The cold January-like weather continues through Wednesday before we briefly warm up on Thursday. By the weekend temperatures head back into the 40s!
