Royal Boucherie in Old City Launches New Negroni Bar and Relaunches Happy Hour

As temperatures fall, Royal Boucherie, Old City’s atmospheric and lively neighborhood bar and restaurant, is right on time with its new Negroni Bar—a cold-weather riff on this summer’s über-popular Spritzer Bar. The setup is similar, but flavors are flipped and couldn’t be more perfect for cooler temperatures and fall/winter imbibing. Additionally, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, Royal Boucherie has brought back Happy Hour.

Is New Jersey Cheesesteak better than Philadelphia's Cheesesteak? Have you tried it?

We headed to Camden, New Jersey to check out Donkey's Place. This was the place we were looking forward to eating in New Jersey. Their cheesesteak is $11 and a bit different from the one I had in Philadelphia. The combination of the poppy seed roll, the thick seasoned steak, and the huge quantity of fried onions are perfect. It was bigger than I was expecting. We also ordered seasoned fries. It was so good and did not disappoint us. Donkey's Place is located at 1223 Haddon Ave, Camden, NJ.

Eastern State Penitentiary | Philadelphia Pennsylvania

There are so many things to do while visiting Philly but I think one of the very best is a trip to Eastern State Penitentiary. There is so much amazing history here, along with the unique architecture of the building itself. If you don't know we are full time travelers and have been traveling the US full time for the past 6 years in our RV and micro car camper. One of our biggest hobbies is exploring abandoned places, normally it is not the type that you purchase a ticket and go on a tour. This is a good place for those of you that are fascinated with abandoned places but do not want to break the rules going into other places. Don't forget to subscribe here to follow along on all of our adventures.

Exploring the Haunted Eastern State Penitentiary

Walking through the abandoned cell blocks of America’s most historic prison is eerily haunting. To see the cells where infamous inmates like Al Capone and bank robber ‘Slick Wille” Sutton spent their days is eye-opening. The Eastern State Penitentiary was the first prison in the world designed for reformation instead of punishment. You can take a self-guided tour through this abandoned prison complex that became the model for hundreds of prisons worldwide.

Grimm Philly Twilight Tour

The Grimm Philly Twilight Tour we chose is Vampires, Sex, Ghost Tour. One of their most popular tours and we can see why. Joe, a university professor, leads the tour so, you know you will get tons of historical facts throughout the tour. This walking tour starts at the Independence Visitor Center and winds its way around dozens of Philadelphia haunted sites. The tour is fun and irreverent with stories of pirates, vampires, mass burials, executions, torture, brothels, and of course ghosts.
