2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Hamilton County?

There were six offenders released on parole during 2020 that live in Hamilton County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by SE Illinois News. The data shows five men and one woman were released in Hamilton County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 34. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 45-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2018.

A decision by recently appointed Odin School Superintendent Sam Alli to take the job of Iuka Grade School Superintendent has led to the promotion of recently hired Odin Principal Kimberly Briggs to the Superintendent’s job. The Odin School is now advertising for a Principal to replace Briggs. She is coming to the district from Special education Coordinator Administrator at the North Clay Unit School District.

She was born September 18, 1928 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Paul and Jennie (Harrington) Mayberry. She married Henry Felix Skropka on August 24, 1957 and he preceded her in death. Gloria was a home maker and a long time Avon saleswoman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved to sew, play cards and enjoyed reading. Gloria was Catholic by faith and was a faithful member of St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro.
