Swimmer pronounced dead at Bolton Potholes

Bolton, VT — Around 12:30 pm on Saturday, Vermont 911 received a report of a swimmer who had gone underwater at Bolton Potholes but had not resurfaced. Members of the Bolton Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Rescue, Colchester Technical Rescue, and Stowe Mountain Rescue responded to the scene to assist.

Colchester Woman wanted for hitting man with her car

COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) - Colchester Police are looking for a woman who hit another man with her car, sending him to the hospital. Police say an altercation, Friday night happened in the middle of the intersection at Williams and Blakely Roads. When Police arrived, officers were told that Nicole Stowell, 33 of Colchester hit another man on a motorcycle with her car. The 33 year old man was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Swimmer drowns at Bolton potholes

BOLTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A Burlington man has drowned at the Bolton Potholes. Police have identified the victim as Cody Surprise, 21, of Burlington. Saturday at 12:40pm Richmond Rescue, Bolton Fire, and Richmond Fire were dispatched to the popular swimming spot for a swimmer who had jumped in the water and didn’t resurface. Colchester Technical and Stowe Mountain Rescue were both called to assist. The tech teams used ladders to gain access, and dive team were able to retrieve Surprise. Resuscitation was administered but the swimmer was declared dead at the scene.

Plattsburgh moving forward with prelimary Margaret Street plans

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - The City of Plattsbrugh has decided to move forward with it’s preliminary plans for the Margaret Street project. The current plans would add more space on the road, on the side walks, more parking and a bike lane. The project also would turn Margaret into a one-way from Cornelia to Broad street. At public meeting on the plan - some people said a one way downtown would add confusion and that the city has already tried turning a portion of Margaret street into a one way decades ago and it didn’t work out. Since the council voted in favor of the plans this week, now the engineering firm is able to Fine-Tune the project.
