A Pawhuska man who was involved in a high speed police chase on Wednesday afternoon appeared in Washington County court on Thursday. Skyler Dean Barcus was charged with endangering others while eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle and interfering with a police dog among other charges related to the incident.

COVID Numbers Trending in the Right Direction Across the State

As of this week’s advisory from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, 45 counties are in the yellow, or at the low risk level, for a chance of getting COVID-19. There are 30 counties in the green, or new normal level and only two counties sit in the orange, or moderate risk level. Washington, Osage and Nowata Counties are all at the yellow risk level.

The Pawhuska City Pool is closed until further notice, as a pump needs to be replaced. The City apologizes for any inconvenience. Once the pool re-opens, it is important to remember you can purchase passes at City Hall. Daily passes cost $4 and senior citizens only pay $2. High Speed Chase in Bartlesville Ends in Osage County

Police were in hot pursuit of a suspect driving at high rates of speed in a stolen vehicle in Bartlesville on Wednesday afternoon. According Bartlesville Police Captain Jay Hastings, 29-year-old Skyler Barcus of Bartlesville was driving the stolen red Lexus at a speed exceeding 100 miles per hour down Washington Boulevard. He said an officer pursued Barcus to the west towards downtown when he called for backup.

Osage Casinos broke ground on new casino-hotels this week in Pawhuska and Bartlesville. The $90 million investment, which will go toward replacing existing entertainment venues at those locations, has been in the works for years.
