Kalona woman charged with OWI twice Sunday

A Kalona woman was arrested on OWI charges not once, but twice Sunday. Shortly before 1:30am, an Iowa City police sergeant observed 18-year-old Delaney Gingerich of 3rd Street operating a 2007 Pontiac near the intersection of Burlington and Linn Streets, and stopped her for a traffic violation. She reportedly exhibited measurable impairment on field sobriety tests. Her behavior was inconsistent with her tested blood-alcohol content of zero.

Coggon residents share sigh of relief after manhunt ends

COGGON, Iowa (KCRG) - Coggon was very quiet Monday morning after residents were told to stay inside and lock their doors. Law enforcement was searching for a man who shot a Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputy multiple times at a Casey’s. Once word got around about Stanley Donahue’s arrest, residents said they all shared a collective sigh of relief. Having gone from fearing for their neighbors, family, and friends, and now they are able to return to normal.

Woman sentenced for accessing ex-boyfriend’s medical records

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A woman who used to work at an Iowa hospital has been sentenced to five years of probation for improperly accessing her ex-boyfriend’s medical records and distributing a photo of his injuries. Federal prosecutors said the woman, who now lives in Las Vegas, pleaded guilty to wrongfully accessing her ex-boyfriend’s records in 2017 while she worked a hospital in Cedar Rapids. Prosecutors say the 41-year-old woman took a picture of a medical photo and sent it to another person. That third person then sent the photo back to the ex-boyfriend on Facebook messenger with taunting language and emojis.
