Body Found in Waterloo

A woman’s body was found by a mushroom hunter over the weekend in northeast Waterloo. Waterloo Police began a death investigation late Sunday afternoon after morel mushroom hunters found a body in a field east of Logan Avenue and East Donald Street. It appeared to investigators that the body had been there for quite some time. It’s not known if any foul play is suspected. The body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy and police are waiting on the results.

Target Of Nationwide Manhunt Turns Himself In

(West Union, IA) — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says a Clermont man who was the target of a nationwide manhunt has turned himself in. Forty-five-year-old Eric Nordrum is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of five while the child was in his home. Nordrum faces a charge of child sex abuse. Authorities say he surrendered at the sheriff’s office in West Union this morning (Tuesday) at 10:30 a-m. Investigators say the evidence has led to several additional allegations that are being checked out.

Strawberry Point Part Dealer Cited For Illegal Tire Burning

An antique tractor part dealer is being cited for illegally burning old tractor tires. Jerry Everitt from Strawberry Point has been illegally burning tires on his land up until someone reported him in March, says an article in Iowa Capital Dispatch. An investigator from the DNR told Iowa Capital Dispatch that Everitt seemed to not know that you are not supposed to be burning tires.

2 Sumner Residents Arrested

Two Sumner residents were taken into custody for violating a no contact order on Friday. A Sumner Officer was dropping off evidence in Waverly on Friday when he witnessed 40 year old Rusty Surovik and 33 year old Angelina Martinez walking along Highway 3. The officer had prior knowledge of a no contact order between the two and confirmed it was still in place with dispatch. He then took both subjects into custody. They were transferred to the Bremer County Jail.

Police Investigating Bullet Hole & Blood Trail

Waterloo Police are investigating a bullet hole and a blood trail found in a vacant home found on Friday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The bullet hole was found in a home at 412 Sunnyside Avenue. In addition, four shell casings were located and a blood trail was found in the middle of the road. Police have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident and cannot confirm that the blood trail and the shots fired are related. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

Juvenile Arrested After Stealing Vehicle in Cedar Falls

A 15-year-old male will face multiple charges after stealing a vehicle and eluding police officers in Cedar Falls Sunday afternoon. Cedar Falls Police say around 1:20 PM, a white 2015 Ford Fusion was spotted near the intersection of 4th Street and Hudson Road. The vehicle had been previously reported as stolen. The driver led the police on a brief vehicle chase before fleeing on foot near the intersection of Pearl Street and West 10th Street. The driver was later found and taken into custody. He is facing charges of first degree theft, eluding, interference with official acts, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcohol under 21. Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
