On the tenth day of October in the year of our Lord 1933, Lester McGuire and his wife, Edna (Decker) McGuire welcomed their only daughter to their home. She was welcomed by one older brother, Forest Lee. The new born lady was named Ora Joan McGuire (Ora, after an aunt) but she was soon to be called Joan or just Jo by her friends and relatives. Joan grew up in Dade County, Missouri and her early school years were spent at the Arcola school in Arcola, Missouri. That school was closed in 1950 and Joan finished her high school education in Lockwood, Missouri being a member of the Lockwood graduating class of 1951.

The SC 13u Storm Chasers return to tournament play today as they head to the Quincy Wood Bat for a pair of pool play games tonight starting at 6 and 8pm. They will then play in elimination bracket play on Sunday. The Storm Chasers are 20-9 on the season with 2 tournaments left after this weekend.
