Little Italy Days is returning to Bloomfield

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — After taking a year-long hiatus due to Covid-19, the popular Little Italy Days festival will return to Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood this summer. Running Aug. 19-22, the festival will take place on Liberty Avenue, from Ella Street to Gross Street. Three stages featuring 30 acts are planned, along with a bocce ball court and numerous food and beverage vendors.

New plaque honors fallen Pittsburgh firefighters

A new plaque hangs in the Pittsburgh Fire Academy Training Center honoring 150 years of Pittsburgh firefighters who died on the job. The plaque, donated by the Pittsburgh Veteran Firefighters, was dedicated in a ceremony Wednesday in Highland Park. From 1837 to 2008, 134 Pittsburgh firefighters died on the job.
