RICE LAKE, Wis. – The annual firecracker special was held on Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway, with Kenny Kincaid winning his first ever Midwest Modified main event. Kincaid, part of a very large family whose roots run deep in the Off Road Racing arena of motorsports, earned his first visit to victory lane at the speedway on Saturday.

2 Motorcyclists Killed In Rice Lake Crash

Rice Lake, Minn. (KFGO) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is identifying the two motorcyclists killed in a crash Thursday night in Rice Lake. Deputies say 42-year-old Jacob Laurion of Rice Lake and 50-year-old Jacob Koslucher of Canosia Township died after colliding with a truck on a curve in the road. Investigators say at least one of the motorcycles had traveled into the oncoming lane.

Two-vehicle crash north of Hayward results in multiple injuries

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Saturday, July 2, a two-vehicle crash with severe damages and multiple persons injured occurred on Highway 63 at the junction with Pfeifer Road approximately seven miles north of Hayward. Three Sawyer County ambulances were dispatched to the scene along with three medical helicopters, Sawyer County sheriff’s deputies, Town and City of Hayward police, and Town and City of Hayward fire departments. Three patients were transported from the scene by helicopters which landed on and took off from Hwy. 63. One of the vehicles, a white SUV, ended up on the roadway as a result of the crash. The other vehicle, a black SUV, ended up on the shoulder of the roadway near the west ditch. The names of the victims and extent of their injuries is not available at this time.

Man dies three days after house fire near Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. -- A 33-year-old man died days after he was pulled from a burning house in near Duluth.The Rice Lake Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 3900 block of West Tischer Road on June 22. They found heavy fire and smoke, and the man - who had been pulled from inside the house - laying in the backyard.The fire was extinguished within an hour, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital. He died of his injuries three days later. The victim was identified as Myles Leslie Summers.
