East Broad Top Railroad

Long after most narrow gauge railroads east of the Mississippi River had been abandoned in favor of highways, Pennsylvania’s East Broad Top Railroad soldiered on into the 1950s. The 36-inch gauge railroad was one of dozens of its type that once crisscrossed the nation, popular because their smaller size made them cheaper to build or because they could travel through more challenging topography.

Police searching for pair in Tuesday burglary incident

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a local woman and man in connection with a larceny incident in Great Cacapon on Tuesday, June 28. Residents in the area of Milo School Road and Youngblood Road reported yesterday seeing and hearing law enforcement officers in vehicles and in helicopters searching the area for hours. Police say they no longer believe the pair are in the immediate area.

Moore says she doesn’t know how she lived without the help of a service dog for so long. Waffles also helps her with her PTSD, anxiety, and panic attacks. When Moore is having panic or anxiety issues, her service dog puts gentle pressure on her chest.

French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust preserves 7.5 more acres in Charlestown

PHOENIXVILLE — French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust, in partnership with Charlestown Township, has protected another 7.5 acres in northern Chester County. The conservation easement of the Green Lane Road property, owned by Frances Rodgers, was funded through the township’s Open Space Initiative dedicated tax dollars and expanded the total protected lands along Green Lane to 175 acres.
