BUSE TOWNSHIP, Minn (Valley News Live) - One person was injured in a crash involving a car and a school bus in Buse Township near Fergus Falls. A Minnesota State Patrol report states the crash happened at the intersection of County Road 82 and Big Chief Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.

Leonard “Lenny” McNab, 84, of Battle Lake, MN, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls. Leonard (Lenny) Joseph McNab was born May 3, 1938 at his parent’s farm home near Brewster, Minnesota. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster and attended Brewster Public School through ninth grade. He then transferred to St. John’s Prep School in Collegeville, Minnesota. After graduation, he attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in 1960. He then returned to Collegeville and entered St. John’s Seminary. After completing his theological studies, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Winona May 25, 1964. As a priest, he served as a full- time teacher of religion classes in Catholic High Schools and assisted with parish duties in Winona and Rochester, Minnesota in 1974. In 1976, he petitioned the Vatican in Rome for laicization. His petition was granted by Pope Paul VI and February 26, 1977 he and Eileen Mary Hoffmann were married at St. Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Len-ny then returned to school, earned his R.N. degree and worked as a nurse on a psychiatric unit in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota until he and Eileen retired and moved to their lake home on Silver Lake near Battle Lake, Minnesota. Because Lenny grew up on a farm, it is not surprising that he enjoyed outdoor activities throughout his life. These included hunting and fishing, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed volunteering which led him to be very active with the Battle Lake Food Shelf and the Battle Lake Lions Club. He along with Eileen have also been very active in their local parish, Our Lady of the Lake Church in Battle Lake. Lenny was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Alice McNab; by an older brother and two younger sisters. He is survived by his wife, Eileen McNab of Battle Lake; a brother and many beloved nieces and nephews. Rosary: Men of Mary will be 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake with Fr. LeRoy Schik officiating. A visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Cemetery in Battle Lake, MN. Glende-Nilson Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Battle Lake was in charge of arrangements. Derrick Sundeen of Dalton, MN rolled his pickup, September 3, 2021; A Conservation Officer came upon the vehicle in a ditch near Otter Tail County Highway 37 and Bankers Drive. While attempting to assist Sundeen, he was found to be armed and fired in the direction of the Conservation Officer.

A local woman recently announced her candidacy for the seat for Minnesota House District 9A. Nancy Jost of Fergus Falls describes herself as an experienced rural and early childhood advocate. Jost has been endorsed by the state DFL party and sees her goal as just being a voice for rural Minnesota.

Orrin Christianson, 91, of rural Clitherall, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his residence under the care of his family and hospice. He was born to Malfred and Emma (Sandahl) Christianson December 14, 1930 at home in Vining. He moved to Clitherall and milked cows with his dad. In 1954, he enlisted with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Whiticore, AK until 1956 when he was Honorably Discharged. He married Betty Biederman August 27, 1956 in Breckenridge, MN. He and Betty purchased a farm in rural Clitherall and farmed until 1993 when they moved to Belmont Lake. They had seven children: Joel, Carrie, Kalvin, Lance, Rodney, Col-leen and Christine. They also raised their nephew, Tim. They were foster parents to many children. Orrin was active in Farmers Union and Nidaros Church serving on the board. He loved to bowl, hunt, fish, play Bingo, ride motorcycle, travel and play cards with friends. He also enjoyed family events and holidays. He loved to eat lefse, lutefisk and enjoyed eating at church banquets with Scandinavian food. Orrin was preceded in death by his son, Joel Lynn; his parents, Malfred and Emma; and his siblings, Marie, Carl, Elsie, Ruby, Orvie, Deloris and Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Carrie (Steve), Kalvin, Lance, Rodney, Colleen (Kerry), Christine (Matthew) and Tim; his grandchildren, Tara, Tessa (Jared), Mitchell, Zoe, Austin (Kathy), CaSarah, Justin, Cortney, Cameron, Nathan, Nicole and Luke; and by his great-grandchildren, Tehya, Charlie, Kayden, Kinsley and Thayer. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial Service was Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Nidaros Lutheran Church in rural Clitherall. Burial was in Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery. Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Battle Lake was in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be made at www.glendenilson.com.

(Alexandria, MN)--The 34th annual Alexandria Vintage Car Club's Shine and Swap Meet took place on Sunday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Bob Bass, organizer of the event along with other members of the Vintage Car Club, say it was a perfect day for the event. He says that it was a "great group of people" and they had over 300 cars. He says he believes "it is a record for the number of cars" at the event.

(Glenwood) -- Piping issues continue to plague efforts to open the Glenwood Aquatic Center. After addressing an initial piping issue earlier this month, the city of Glenwood is faced with another piping issue that arose when the pumps were turned back on to fill the pool over the weekend. Jennifer Fletcher is the Glenwood Deputy City Clerk. Fletcher tells KMA News the issue arose over the weekend and could delay the opening further.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) – Around 6 pm yesterday, Parkers Prairie Police responded to a crash where one motorcycle rear-ended another. Both motorcycles were traveling southbound on Hwy 29 in Ottertail County. The first, driven by Sherri Rupert, 58, of Parkers Prairie, MN, slowed to make a right turn onto 118th St.

(Douglas County)--On Friday afternoon, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single motorcycle accident on Co Rd 1 NW near the intersection with Co Rd 52 NW in Lund Township north of Evansville. The motorcycle reportedly left the roadway and the operator was seriously injured. A passenger was also on the motorcycle and was believed to also be injured.

First Western Bank provided a $30.8 million senior construction loan for GoodNeighbor’s planned project on a 2.5 acres of land in Alexandria, Minn.
