Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: September 24-26

Inspired by the huge bronze buffalo statue installed in Owensboro’s sculpture park, this year’s Bronze Buffalo Fest & Gala features a three-day en plein aire event highlighted by a closing exhibition and gala featuring works of art created during the paintout. Taking place from September 23-25 this year, live entertainment and southern cuisine will also be part of the event. Held by the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art — which has long made its art exhibits free and open to all — this event will incorporate dozens of artists from Kentucky and surrounding states to Owensboro for the Bronze Buffalo En Plein Aire Paintout to render paintings of familiar local sites and community events. The paintings are entered into a competition and presented in a one-night exhibition at the museum. There will be a Gala Exhibition and Auction on the third day from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This Evansville Home Transforms Into an Epic Haunted House Every Year for a Good Cause

Some people just know how to Halloween, and those are my kinda people! One of my favorite Halloween stops every year is the Nightmare on Eastbrooke. It's a home haunt set up on Evansville's northeast side, and they go all out for Halloween. They transform their driveway, yard, and garage into a full-scale haunted house. The best part? It's all to help out the Tri-State Food Bank.

Warrick Humane Society Fall Online Silent Auction Underway – Over 100 Lots to Bid On

The Warrick Humane Society has played a big role in my life. I have served on the board, volunteered at the WHS, and have even adopted animals from the non-profit in Newburgh. I can tell you, when I served on the board, I saw the financials and it's hard to believe that the entire rescue is paid for entirely by the support of our community. Day-to-day operations at the facility can become pricey and it is even more when a dog or cat comes in that needs additional medical treatment. Plus, it's a no-kill shelter so pets stay until they are adopted.
