You can put your hot dog eating skills to the test this Friday at Haynie’s Corner's Hot Dog Eating Contest. By now, you have seen hot dog eating contests on TV. There's something about them that you just can't help to watch. Have you ever thought "I could do that" while watching it? I would be lying if I said that I never had that thought before...even though I know there's no way I could eat THAT many hot dogs. The guys you see on the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on TV are pros, but that doesn't mean that hot dog lovers in the Tri-State can't compete in a hot dog eating contest of our own.

Western Ky. pickleball players win medals in Henderson Co. and Bluegrass Games

This past weekend was very busy for pickleball players in far Western Kentucky. There were 26 individuals from seven local counties participating in two different tournaments. The Henderson Pickleball Tourney was held on the Henderson County High School Tennis Complex with 139 entries. This was an inaugural event with 10 Pickleball courts set up. Fourteen locals participated in seven events collecting 12 Medals; 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze. In addition to local players, participants were from Western Kentucky, Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.

Deaconess was recognized for their high performances in procedures dealing with heart attacks, strokes, back surgery, and several other procedures. Buddy Walk set for October

The Green River Area Down Syndrome Association has set the date for its 23rd annual Buddy Walk that is expected to bring a large crowd to McConnell Plaza. The annual Buddy Walk, according to Executive Director Tiffany Thrash, is not only GRADSA’s biggest fundraiser, but it is also the largest nonprofit gathering in Owensboro each year, typically bringing out a crowd of about 3,000 people.
