New charges for Leesville man who chained fiancé in bedroom

A Leesville man charged with handcuffing and chaining his mentally impaired fiancé in a bedroom for days against her will received additional charges this week. Robert Allen McCrary, 30, was arrested on June 23 and was charged with false imprisonment and domestic abuse battery, but on Friday Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft announced that additional charges had been filed.

Vernon Parish searching for shooting suspect

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man they believe is responsible for shooting another man in the face and back early Friday morning. An arrest warrant has been issued for William Lewis “Billy” Klein III, 31, of Leesville. His last known address was reported to be on Welch Road.

New Belle Jim owners cut the ribbon to begin a new era

The new owners of Jasper’s historic Belle Jim Hotel have set up shop and on Friday they cut the ribbon to officially begin a new era of the 122-year-old landmark on the northeast corner of the Courthouse Square. The Jasper-Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce and others gathered on Friday for the ribbon cutting ceremony with new owners, Ed and Sujey Guizar.

Mr. George Lester Tudmon was born to the late Mr. Lincoln Tudmon Sr. and Mrs. Pearl Larkin Tudmon on June 13, 1948 in Jasper, Texas. He received Christ at an early age. On June 28, 2022, George was visited by the angel of death and entered into eternal rest. His father, mother, brother, Lincoln Tudmon Jr., Sisters Mary Lee Cox, Hattie Lee Smith, Geneva Scott, and Ernestine Smith, all preceded him in death.

City of DeRidder alerts residents in the High School Drive and Texas Street area who were out of water this week during the repair of a leak will be without water again Wednesday, July 6 while the water line is replaced.
