Although he recently accepted a position with Van ISD, Matt Young has a long history in Sulphur Springs. His family moved to town in 1989, when his dad accepted a coaching position. His dad coached for 11 years and his mom was a teacher. He followed his family into education, the past 14 years spent mentored and coaching Sulphur Springs students from the sidelines as offensive coordinator and line coach for football, the field in track and classroom.

East Texas truck driver recognized for helping fellow trucker during medical emergency

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas truck driver has been recognized for stopping to help a fellow truck driver during a medical emergency. The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has named truck driver Shawna Lewis from Gun Barrel City, TX, a Highway Angel for stopping to care for the truck driver experiencing the emergency. A press release said Lewis works for Artur Express in Hazelwood, MO.

Two Vandegrift Vipers win gold at state track & field 

Just over a year ago, when Cristion Davis had his junior season come to end at the regional meet, all he could think about was getting back in the gym. The Vandegrift senior closed out his high school career with a gold medal in the discus throw Saturday at the UIL State Track and Field Championships with a mark of 182 feet,1 inch.

Wild Stallion Moved to Sanctuary After Becoming Too Bold

A wild stallion has been relocated to a sanctuary because he’s become aggressive and very food motivated. Delegate's Pride—also known as “Chip”—was removed from his home on Assateague Island in Maryland. The 12-year-old wild horse had become more confrontational and obsessed with raiding human food. He was moved to Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas, which is part of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
