Lake Koocanusa

Lake Koocanusa is a reservoir constructed by the damming of the Kootenay River by the Libby Dam between British Columbia, Canada, and Montana, United States. It is located near the border between the two countries, closer to the north-western part of Montana. It is a 144-km long artificial reservoir and is a popular destination for fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, and much more. In 1975, the Libby Dam, built as a joint project of the US and Canada, was formally dedicated by the US President at the time, President Gerald Ford. Since then, Lake Koocanusa has provided hydroelectric power for the citizens of the US and Canada.

Eureka man headed to state prison for sex offense

A Eureka man caught on an audio recording trying to badger an underage relative into having sex with him will spend the next decade behind bars. John Kendall Ellis, 35, received a 20-year sentence to the Montana State Prison, with 10 suspended, from 19th District Court Judge Matt Cuffe on Monday. Ellis pleaded guilty to a single count of solicitation to incest on Feb. 14. Along with solicitation to incest, Ellis initially faced a charge of sexual assault or incest, alternatively. A call to be more chill I’ve read a lot of letters in the Inter Lake supporting various candidates. A theme on May 23 was for candidates who “reject” certain “agendas.” We hear a lot these days about “agendas,” but usually the groups with agendas are labeled by not-themselves. Aided by news media and social media, people have been isolating themselves into “echo chambers,” believing there are scary “other” groups out there with scary agendas. Two Lincoln County men plead not guilty to burglary charges

Two Eureka men pleaded not guilty to felony burglary on June 6 in the Montana 19th Judicial District Court. Colin C. Wolf, 24, and Vaughn Grier Rouse, 25, of Rexford, are accused of stealing guns and fishing rods, an inflatable raft and an outboard motor from a home located on Berger Lane, north of Eureka on March 9. Rouse is also facing a felony charge for the alleged possession of methamphetamine. A Lincoln County woman is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer. Emily Lynn Carvey, 21, entered a not guilty plea to one felony count of theft by embezzlement on June 6 in the Montana 19th Judicial District Court. Carvey is accused of stealing more than $7,500 from a coffee shop where she worked at in Eureka. Benjamin N. Proodian, 79

Benjamin N. Proodian, 79, of Eureka, passed away May 27, 2022, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. He was born Jan. 27, 1943, in ALX, France, to Samuel Proodian and Margaret Proodian (Kelendairy). Ben was a member of the United States Air Force. He loved eating and dining out. His favorite restaurant was Applebee’s. Ben worked as a computer analyst for Hugh & Packer. He loved fishing for perch and northern. Ben also enjoyed playing pool. He was a manager of the VFW Canteen in Eureka and loved classic rock, country, rock ’n’ roll and Western music. Ben is survived by brother, Joseph; niece, Michelle; good friend, Melody Casey; and very close friend, A.G. Casey Jr. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by two sisters. Services for Benjamin N. Proodian will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a 61-year-old Eureka man who went missing Sunday, May 29. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ricky Davis possibly went fishing with his dog Sunday morning in the Eureka area. The report described Davis as in “very diminished” health.
