City of Hobbs to host their annual 4th of July fireworks display

HOBBS, N.M. (PRESS RELEASE) — The following is a press release from the City of Hobbs:. The City of Hobbs will host its annual 4th of July fireworks display at the HIAP (Hobbs Industrial Air Park, 5425 Jack Gomez Blvd.) on Friday, July 1st due to availability of fireworks vendors. There is a nationwide shortage of pyrotechnicians to safely work fireworks displays, thus requiring communities to be flexible with the date of their Independence Day displays. While this is not the traditional date, we hope all understand and will enjoy the show and another opportunity to celebrate our patriotism!

A Hobbs man was arrested on June 10 in connection with a string of commercial burglaries where copper wire totaling more than $13,000 was taken. Steven Alvis, 32, of Hobbs, was arrested on June 10 on warrants for larceny over $2500, under $20,000, a third-degree felony; burglary of a structure, breaking and entering, failure to appear, and criminal damage to property, all fourth-degree felonies.

Corinne Sheffield was selected as a USSSA All American. She participated in a tryout in Hobbs, New Mexico. There are 6 teams selected from different regions across the nation. Corinne was selected for the West Texas region. She went through different skills assessments and was scored in order to make the team. The All American games will take place in Viera, Florida at the Space Coast Complex from August 1st to August 6th.
