Police investigating fatal shooting outside Dallas gas station

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot dead outside a Dallas gas station Sunday night.At approximately 10:59 p.m. June 26, police were called to a shooting at the Tiger Mart located at 145 W. Ann Arbor Ave. During their preliminary investigation, officers determined that 43-year-old Cordney Dawson was making a purchase at the overnight window when the suspect got in his truck and shot him after being confronted.Dallas Fire-Rescue took Dawson to a local hospital where he died.Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Jeffrey Loeb at

Jury finds Timothy Huff guilty of capital murder in Fort Worth officer Garrett Hull's death

TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - The punishment phase is underway in the Timothy Huff trial after a Tarrant County jury found him guilty on June 27 of capital murder.They will now decide if Huff receive a life sentence or the death penalty for killing Fort Worth Police Officer Garrett Hull. Hull was killed in September 2018 outside the Los Vaqueros bar in the 400 block of Biddison Street. He was undercover at the time of his murder. Former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price previously said Hull was a hero, a brilliant officer, a great husband and father. "I've enjoyed hearing those that worked with him talk about him as the rock... talk about him as the glue that held his unit together," said Price. Officer Hull had 17 years of service with the Fort Worth Police Department and was in law enforcement for 19 years. His fellow officers described him as a man of strong character who was well loved.

Richardson Starbucks shooting suspect Tranisa Watts indicted

RICHARDSON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) -- Richardson police have charged Tranisa Watts with the capital murder of her ex-boyfriend's mother.At 7:12 p.m. April 18, police responded to the parking lot of the Starbucks located at 4151 Renner Rd. after receiving reports of a shooting.Watts, 23, was apprehended after the first officer on scene spotted her attempting to leave the location with a child. Additional responding officers found 52-year-old Kentoria Nicole Edwards shot and immediately began life saving measures, police said. Edwards was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The 3-year-old child was unharmed and no one at the business was injured by the gunfire, officials said.The resulting investigation determined Edwards was the grandmother of Watts' child and had full custody. Officials say Watts had asked to see her child and Edwards agreed to meet her at the Starbucks where she was later killed.Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Richardson Police Department at 972-744-4800.

American Airlines just made getting through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport a little easier for passengers with TSA PreCheck. The airline has launched a new program that uses facial recognition at TSA security checkpoints at the airport. Passengers only need their phone with the American Airlines app to get through the line quickly using mobile identification.

American comfort food eatery Ford's Garage opened its new Plano location June 13. (William C. Wadsack/Community Impact Newspaper) Ford’s Garage opened June 13 at 3904 Dallas Parkway, Plano. Styled like a 1920s service station with vintage Ford vehicles, gas pumps and fixtures, Ford’s Garage offers gourmet burgers and American comfort food entrees, such as meatloaf, chili, and macaroni and cheese, according to the eatery’s website. It also offers a variety American craft beers, wine and cocktails. The restaurant is in the building formerly occupied by Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe, which closed in December 2019 after 20 years of service at that location. According to a listing on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s website, Ford’s Garage did an estimated $1 million in renovation work on the building. 469-940-3673.
