Former President of Columbia College passes away

Columbia College is mourning the death of its former President. The college says President Emeritus Dr. Gerald Brouder died last Wednesday. He was 79. Brouder served as the school’s President from 1995 until his retirement in 2013. He is the second President in the school’s history to earn Emeritus status.

Liberty to increase natural gas revenues by $1 million

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Empire District Gas Company (Liberty) reached an agreement to increase natural gas revenues by approximately $1 million. The Missouri Public Service Commission approved Liberty’s request and officials say the average residential customer will see an increase in natural gas rates by approximately $1.50 a month.

Twenty five troopers graduate from Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy

Twenty-five troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on Friday, June 24, 2022. The ceremony took place in the Academy gymnasium, 1510 E. Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO. The 113th Recruit Class reported to the Academy on January 18, 2022, to begin the 25-week training to become a trooper. The new troopers will report to duty in their assigned troops on Monday, July 11, 2022.

JEFFERSON CITY - The Bittersweet Garden Club held its 22nd Annual Garden Tour in various areas around Jefferson City on Sunday. The tour is held every year on the last Sunday of June. The self-proclaimed "Gardening Event of the Year" highlighted six gardens that were well-preserved. The club hoped that visitors would take away new techniques and tricks to use on their own gardens.
