End of Watch honors fallen Hancock County deputy with Ride to Remember

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - The End of Watch Ride to Remember is making stops along the Gulf Coast to honor our deputies and officers killed in the line of duty. On Thursday, the mobile memorial visited Bay St. Louis to honor Lieutenant Michael Boutte, who served for both the Picayune and Hancock County Police Departments before losing his life in the line of duty at the beginning of February last year.

The Mystery of Pascagoula’s Phantom Barber

Eighty years ago, it was the summer of 1942, and Pascagoula, like many other small towns across the country, was doing its part for the war effort. Because of its coastal location, Pascagoula was a prime place to build warships at nearby Ingalls Shipyard. Soon the population of this sleepy town increased quickly from about 5,000 to 15,000 due to people moving in to work at the shipyard.

Shepard State Park in Gautier makes upgrades to location

Shepard State Park in Gautier has made several upgrades to the park recently and News 25 was able to catch up with Mayor Casey Vaughan to learn about all the new amenities. One of the most recent renovations at the park is the widening of the roughly ten miles of natural trails. The park has made each trail at least eight feet wide to give more space to hikers and cyclists. This project cost $11,550 with about $8,000 of the funds paid through Tidelands Funds.
