'Call 9-1-1': Hawley Police response times called into question at council meeting

Police response times are being called into question in Hawley after a June Borough Council meeting. Will Wykoff, a resident of Keystone Street, expressed concerns to the council on June 8, over how to be able to reach the borough's part-time police department in an emergency. Council President Michele Rojas advised that the thing to do is to call 9-1-1, since the Wayne County Communications Center is aware of when the local police are on duty; when they are not, the PA State Police will be dispatched.

More Heat & Humidity.

After a comfortable stretch of weather the Susquehanna Valley will have more typical "4th of July" heat and humidity. Highs will reach to 90 of Thursday and it'll be sticky with mostly sunny skies. Friday looks like the hottest day of the weekend (and maybe the year so far) as we get to the mid 90s. While we can't rule out a stray thunderstorm over the western counties late of in the evening, Friday will be a hazy and humid day. A cool front will approach on Saturday and give us the best chance of showers & storms for the weekend. It'll remain warm and humid Sunday & Monday with just some "pop-up" showers or storms. Next week looks to remain on the humid side in the 80s with a few chances of showers, but no wash outs.
