TABC Showcase: Tre Johnson, Dink Pate, KJ Lewis and more stand out

DUNCANVILLE, Texas – Over the weekend, 300 plus high school teams made their way to Duncanville High School and the Duncanville Fieldhouse for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Showcase. With well over 200 college coaches and several media outlets in attendance, the event was truly a showcase for top Texas talent. Due to some transfers to out of state programs, the event was missing some firepower from last year’s event but was still loaded with high level prospects. 247Sports was on hand all weekend long and director of basketball Eric Bossi takes a look at some of his top storylines.

Ed Bradford of DeSoto, passed away Friday, June 24th, he was 84 years old. A memorial gathering for Ed Bradford will be Thursday evening, July 7th, from 4 until 8 at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, with a memorial service taking place at 7 o’clock. Burial in the Bradford Cemetery in Victoria.

Confederate Monument Is Now in New Home in DeSoto Parish

The Confederate Monument that stood outside the Caddo Parish Courthouse for more than 100 years has now been reassembled at its new home in DeSoto Parish. The monument was moved after a lengthy legal fight between the Caddo Parish Commission and the Shreveport Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The UDC owns the monument, but there was a dispute over who owned the property the monument was on at the courthouse. In 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a U.S. District Court decision in favor of the Caddo Commission to remove the monument. Commissioners voted to spend nearly $800,000 to move the massive structure.

Jazmine Robinson didn’t grow up fishing, but her ex-boyfriend, a Dallas police officer, did. Their date nights often ended up at the side of a pond or a lake, fishing poles in hand.
