Paradise at Mount Rainier is named quite properly

On the South slope of Mount Rainier, you'll find a beautiful place named "Paradise". It really could not be named more perfectly! My family and I had been talking about taking a day trip for months and we finally found time! So we loaded up the picnic baskets with lunch and took the drive, ready to devour the beauty.

Rainy day hike up to Lake 22

The trailhead to the Lake 22 hike is just off Mountain Loop Highway, in Granite Falls. It's an easy drive from the city to get there and it sure is worth it. This hike is a popular one, so I recommend getting there early! I always recommend that though! Even getting started at 9am can be a huge difference from 10am. Trust me!

The Howe Street Stairs are a gold mine if you like to sweat

The Howe Street Stairs are hidden along the side of Capital Hill, perpendicular to I-5. I first learned about them when I was training for a fundraising event that involved climbing stairs. It is definitely a rare find, because the stairs just keep going and going! I can't stress this enough. Just when you think there could not possibly be more stairs to climb, there are. And if there happen to be a few too many people utilizing them, you can walk about 1.5 minutes South, and there are even more!

Hellbent Brewing is forever my jam.

I think I'm in love with how many breweries there are around our city these days. Hellbent Brewing in Lake City is absolutely a favorite of mine. It's perfect for gathering with friends to watch a game. And they extended the outdoor seating recently and there is so much room to sit outside! And there's almost always a food truck. Hashtag Sold.

Terrace Creek Disc Golf Course is so popular!

There are literally zero days of the week that the Terrace Creek Disc Golf Course is empty. It's always poppin'! The course is really beautiful! It winds through a small wooded area, you cross the street and it's there's even more of the course. I guess I'd have to admit, I have not seen many disc golf courses, but this one is definitely worth driving to. And there is often a guy there selling the "discs", so if you don't have any, you'll probably be able to play anyway.

I've never been more devoted to a nail salon, than I am to Diva Nails

I lived in Lake City for 10 years and I used to love taking a walk over to Diva Nails on a sunny day. I no longer live there, but today I needed to pamper myself before I fly out to Palm Springs, so I swung through! They do such great work. My favorite nails I saw today were on the technician that was working with me. She had ombre nails! They were way cool!

Al's Music Video & Games has been alive and kicking since '74!

I've always wanted to own a used Music store. I've been going to Al's Music Video & Games since the good ol' Seattle Grunge 90's. I'm pretty pleased to see it still rocking! I think I'll let go of the dream of owning one of these kind of shops, and just continue with my obsession of shopping at them. Second hand music rules my world.

Will work for money...so I can shop at Ophelia's Book's

Surprise! I'm back to talk about another 2nd hand store. A 2nd hand book store with a spiral staircase? Enough said; but I'm going to say a bit more. They have a cozy upstairs children's section with couches so you can take a look at books with your kiddos. I think that's precious. There are so many great books!

I love a chance to hit up Bad Bishop!

My heart sings for anything in our city that still resembles "old Seattle". Anyone who has lived here their whole lives, understands. Bad Bishop is a total gem of a bar down in Pioneer Square that I adore. It's an old building, with the super cool original brick. I dig the old, dark vibe the most. But it's also nice and bright too, because the whole bar front has great windows. Their craft cocktails are ridiculously good and so was the Lucky Envelope Grapefruit IPA that I ordered. Also, if you know of a support group for fried brussels sprout addict, please point me in that direction. When I swung through, I noticed that they had a guest "pop-up" menu; and it currently rotates on certain days. That's fun! I love the support among small businesses.

Heaven Sent has the original Ezell's recipe

If someone says "fried chicken" in the greater Seattle area, 9 out of 10 times the first restaurant that comes to mind is Ezell's. It's the most popular and well known. WELL, let me tell you a fun fact that people don't realize. Ezell split from his business partner years ago, and took his recipe with him! He started the Heaven Sent restaurant and it is the bomb. I wish more people knew!

A tiny Danny DeVito greets you at the door of The Octopus Bar

Ok, so the original location for the Octopus Bar was pretty great, but the new one is super cool too! I dig this place because I was raised on a boat, so the Seattle Maritime theme is like home to me. Their decor is on point; random, strange and just dang cool. It's really fun to sit around and look at all the things. Great little outdoor seating area too!
