Utahn playing with gun fires weapon, killing man, charges say

A West Valley man was charged Friday with manslaughter. Police say he was playing with the hammer of his gun when he pointed the weapon at a man and the weapon fired, killing the man. (Kristin Murphy, Deseret News) — WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley man who prosecutors say was playing with the hammer on his gun when it went off, striking and killing a man, now faces criminal charges.

Salt Lake 17 Year Old Drowns In Deer Creek

A 17 year old Salt Lake man drowned in the Deer Creek Reservoir Thursday. According to Utah State, Parks, 17 year old Fernando Botello Arredondo was swimming when he suddenly went underwater and didn’t resurface. The water in the area where he was playing was between 4 and 8 feet deep.

Sandy woman killed in Idaho ATV crash, another rider injured

(KUTV) — A Sandy, Utah woman was killed Thursday in an ATV crash on an Idaho trail. Idaho State Police said Chikay Cole, 67, was traveling north on Smith Canyon Road, east of Interstate 15 and South of Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. Riding on the 2019 Polaris ATV with her was Kerry Cole, 67 also of Sandy and both were wearing helmets.
