SF Now Averaging 10 Monkeypox Cases Per Week; Vaccines Available at Folsom Street Fair

We are now in the fourth month of the local monkeypox outbreak — now officially being referred to as MPX or "em-pox" — and the case numbers have leveled off considerably. San Francisco is frequently seeing days with zero recorded cases, or just one or two, and in the month of September so far, the city has seen a total of 32 new cases — or about 10 per week, as of September 21.

Starting today, Contra Costa Health (CCH) is making the new Omicron booster shots available at its COVID vaccination sites, including the Richmond Auditorium. UC Berkeley removes mask requirement for those without flu vaccine

UC Berkeley changed its mask policy by removing the requirement that masks must be worn for those who have not received a flu vaccination. The requirement previously stated that masks are required during flu season for those not vaccinated for the flu. The updated policy states that masks are “strongly recommended” but not required indoors, regardless of flu vaccination status and are optional for everyone outdoors.

Additional MPX vaccine doses approved in time for SF's Folsom Street Fair

Contra Costa Expands Monkeypox Vaccine Eligibility to all LGBTQ Men

Starting today, Contra Costa County will provide monkeypox (MPX) vaccine at County-run vaccination sites to all LGBTQ men and men who have sex with men. Previously, first doses of Jynneos vaccine were available only to people who had contact with a known MPX case, sex workers or LGBTQ men who had more than one sexual partner in the last 14 days. While anyone can get MPX, not everyone is at equal risk. During the current global outbreak, cases have been overwhelmingly among LGBTQ men and men who have sex with men.
