MITCHELL – Post 8 split a doubleheader with Mitchell Post 18 in Legion baseball Wednesday at Cadwell Park, winning the first game 14-11 before dropping the nightcap 9-4. Post 8 led 9-2 in the first game before Mitchell scored six in the fourth. The Eights then scored three in the sixth and two more in the seventh. George Stalley, Bennett Dean, Jayden Wiebe and Brecken Krueger drove in two runs each. Krueger had three hits. Post 8 had 14 hits and 10 walks. Isaac Polak worked the first two innings on the mound for the win.

Trinity Palmquist grew up in a household with two older sisters who were athletic and competitive. Trinity grew up watching her sisters Saddie and Maddie compete. The youngest of the trio had no choice but to pick up a basketball or golf club and try to keep up with her elder siblings.

The farm bill was discussed at a farm outside Bridgewater, South Dakota Tuesday afternoon. South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson along with Congressman Glen Thompson of Pennsylvania, the ranking member of the House Agriculture Committee, met with various officials from South Dakota farm and commodity organizations to hear comments relating to the new farm bill. The current farm legislation is set to expire in September of 2023. Scott Stahl, president of the South Dakota Corn Growers Association, hosted the roundtable event. He says corn growers are generally pleased with the current farm legislation, and only want to see some small tweaks occur with the new farm bill. Stahl says it was good to share comments with the Congressional members about the new farm bill.
