Catholic Church In Harlingen Vandalized

Harlingen police are scouring for clues to find whoever vandalized St. Anthony’s Catholic Church over the weekend. An outdoor statue of the Virgin Mary was found toppled over and two angel statues were missing. The value of the statues isn’t known. Police are working to learn if the Catholic church had been targeted or if the vandalism was random.

In past three months, VIA passenger numbers best since 2008

HARLINGEN — Valley International Airport officials say they haven’t seen passenger numbers like those of the past three months in 14 years. The airport, benefiting from pent-up demand following the travel downturn during the COVID-19 pandemic, posted more than 40,000 enplaned passengers in March and April, and then 39,294 passengers in the month of May.

Mission to install Fitness Court this summer

This article originally ran in the June 3 issue of the Progress Times. Mission will soon add a new attraction to its parks and recreation amenities — a Fitness Court. Through the National Fitness Campaign and sponsorship from BlueCross BlueShield, the city of Mission received a $50,000 grant to make the Fitness Court possible.
