Former Alabama football player and TV anchor reported dead after apparent suicide

The University of Alabama and ABC 33/40 in Birmingham lost a special man over the weekend. According to a report from AL.com, Christopher Sign died on Saturday morning due to an apparent suicide. He was a native of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was an offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide from 1994 to 1997. Sign played for coaches Eugene “Gene” Stallings and Mike DuBose. He was a part of three winning seasons, including two 10-win seasons in 1994 and 1996.

(FAYETTE, AL) For bargain hunters there may be no better target than gas, with the cheapest station in the Fayette area offering savings of $0.09 per gallon. According to a survey by GasBuddy, Texaco at 302 2Nd Ave Se was the cheapest station in the area, with regular listed at $2.8 per gallon at the pumps Wednesday. That was compared to Chevron at 308 25Th St Ne, where a gallon of regular was selling for $2.89.

One person was killed, and three others were injured in two separate shootings in Tuscaloosa overnight. The first shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Tuscaloosa sheriff’s deputies received multiple calls about gunfire at the Branscomb Apartments public housing community on 60th Street. Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Mary Sellers said three people were wounded and one of those - an 18-year-old female - is critical. The two male victims are both 21 years old.
