Cotton Valley explosion victim dies from injuries

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – One of three men injured in a Cotton Valley propane explosion in early May has died. Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport confirms Chancey Hawk of Minden has passed away as a result of injuries suffered in an explosion and flash fire at a Cotton Valley propane distribution site on May 10.

Man shot during attempted robbery in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A man is recovering after being shot in the face during an attempted robbery. Shreveport Police were called to a gas station in the 4000 block of Jewella Avenue just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. The victim tells Shreveport Police that he had accepted a ride from an unknown black male and female at a hotel on Greenwood Road. The driver pulled the vehicle over and demanded the victim give him all his belonging before shooting him in the cheek. The victim then took off running to a nearby gas station before being taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shreveport man wounded, shot in domestic dispute

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport Police are investigating after a man was shot and wounded during a domestic dispute. Officers say a man and woman were in an argument just after 8:30 p.m. at the 2500 block of Drexel St. in the Werner Park neighborhood. They say the woman then shot him in the upper leg.

Mother charged in overdose death of Minden baby

MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Minden police say a woman was arrested Monday and charged with the death of her baby from a fentanyl overdose in May. Stephanie Lowery is charged with negligent homicide in the death of her baby on May 29. Officials say the autopsy report showed too much fentanyl in the child’s system to come from the mother’s milk alone. They believe it may have been given to the baby intentionally.
