On June 27th, 2022, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Blaydon Niles, 30, of Falconer, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Niles was pulled over for a traffic violation committed on Harrison Street in Jamestown. A DMV check of Niles revealed that his driving privileges in New York were revoked and that he was wanted by the Dunkirk Police Department. During the traffic stop, Niles was also found to be in possession of a container of fentanyl. Niles was placed under arrest, transported to SP Jamestown and processed. Niles was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets directing him to appear in the city of Jamestown Court on a later date, and then turned over to Dunkirk Police Officers on the active warrant.

JAMESTOWN – A 27-year-old man is in custody following around a 20 minute standoff with police officers in Jamestown. City of Jamestown Police responded to several 911 calls for shots fired at 34 Regent Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Callers also reported a possible domestic incident at the residence as well.

A report of shots fired at a residence on Jamestown's north side late Wednesday morning has resulted in an arrest. Jamestown Police say they received several 911 calls regarding gunshots at 34 Regents Street shortly before 11:00 AM, with callers also reporting a possible domestic incident at that location. Officers tried to get the occupants to exit the home, and after about 20 minutes, 27-year-old Aaron Johnson got out and was taken into custody. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and did not locate any firearms inside. Johnson is charged with obstruction and is in the city jail awaiting arraignment. The investigation is continuing, and police say additional charges are expected.

Two people were arrested after an investigation into a possible order of protection violation Tuesday evening at a residence on Jamestown's south side. Jamestown Police responded to the scene at about 6:15 PM and determined that 42-year-old Christopher Light was in the home with a female victim who had an order of protection against him. Officers say Light refused to leave.

The Dunkirk Police Department has announced the passing of a long-time police dispatcher. The department on its Facebook page indicated Jeffrey Ganey had passed away. He died on Monday at the age of 44. Ganey served the department and the community for 18 years. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Humane Society’s dog kennel has reached full capacity, with the non-profit animal group now waiving adoption fees to clear the shelter. “We are above capacity, it’s kind of a crisis situation. We’re really, we’ve got everybody who can be adopted is available for adoption. The three guys running around in here are available. All our kennels are full, we have dogs everywhere,” said animal wellness director, Danny Reynolds.
