HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Around 2 a.m. Friday, a woman lost control of her car while driving east on Virginia Avenue in Hurricane -- an incident that turned deadly. Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said the woman’s car ended up on the side of the road near railroad tracks after flipping many times.

(WSAZ) - Madison Ellis said he is a regular at some of the businesses around the 200 block of Leon Sullivan Way. “The only thing you have here you look, you see is the post office, the Clay Center, the bank and a couple of businesses and they’re not rowdy or anything. Arkansas Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Drug Crime

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Larry Arthur King, 39, of Arkansas, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. According to court documents and statements made in court, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the West Virginia State Police conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Route 119 in South Charleston on May 19, 2022. King was in the front passenger seat of the stopped vehicle. King later admitted to possessing approximately 690 grams of methamphetamine found in a backpack located in the vehicle, and further admitted that he intended to distribute that methamphetamine to other people. On the same date, officers executed a search warrant of a Charleston hotel room rented by King and found over 400 additional grams of methamphetamine, over 150 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of cocaine, and two pistols.

Man arrested after making bomb threats at The Greenbrier Resort

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at approximately 12:30 pm, the Summers County 911 center received a call from an unknown male subject who reported, bombs had been placed at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV, and at the Edgewood Summit Retirement Home in Charleston, WV. The caller advised the bombs would detonate at 4:00 pm. Members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police, K9 units and members of the WVSP Explosive Ordinance Team responded to both locations to assisted with evacuations and searches. No explosive devices were located.

Kanawha County Woman Pleads Guilty to Social Security Fraud

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Melissa Waller, 45, of St. Albans, pleaded guilty to theft of Social Security benefits. According to court documents and statements made in court, Waller received Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits on behalf of a deceased relative. Waller admitted that she knew that she was not entitled to receive these SSA benefits once her relative passed away in April 2012. Between June 2012 and April 2020, Waller received $84,509 in federal benefits that she was not entitled to receive and converted those SSA benefits to her own use.
