BOISE — A Star woman was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for falsely claiming that a business she controlled qualified as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business. By making the false statements, she made it appear that her business was eligible for more than $11 million in government procurement contracts at two military bases.

RENTON, Wash. — Detectives have come to a conclusion in a case from December in which a Renton father and two daughters were found dead inside their apartment. On Dec. 11, the Gil family's bodies — Manuel, 33, Adriana, 17, and Mariel, 16 — were discovered by the apartment's landlord. The girls' mother, Betsy Alvarado, who lives in Everett, has been searching for answers ever since. She said at the time the girls, who lived with their father, became extremely religious and refused to see her.

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee has issued a directive prohibiting state law enforcement from cooperating with abortion-related investigations. The order directs the Washington State Patrol to decline cooperation with most subpoenas, search warrants or court orders from states with laws that ban or significantly restrict abortion access. The agency must review and process these requests in conjunction with the Office of the Attorney General and the governor’s General Counsel.

The state of Idaho is swimming in an ocean of cash and poised to post its second consecutive record state budget surplus. State budget analysts are projecting that the state ended fiscal year 2022 on Thursday with a surplus of about $1.3 billion, Idaho Division of Financial Management Director Alex Adams told the Idaho Capital Sun on Wednesday. State budget officials will likely know the exact figure on about July 20, after the state closes the books and completes year end transfers and bookkeeping work.

The two victims of a fatal crash in Lewiston last week have been identified. According to Lewiston Police, the driver, 37-year-old Nathan Lamere, and 38-year-old Simone Miller, both of Lewiston, were found dead at the scene of a crash at about 12:40 a.m. last Thursday on the 1400 block of Idaho Street.
