Jamestown Police make 25 arrests through GIVE Initiative

Over the course of the last seven days, members of the Jamestown Police Department’s Patrol Section and Investigative Section participated in Targeted Enforcement Patrols throughout the City of Jamestown funded by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative. The enforcement details were proactive in nature and focused on Problem-Oriented Policing to curb crime throughout the City of Jamestown based on Hot-Spot Policing, Focused Deterrence, and Street Outreach. Officers conducted traffic stops, warrant checks, beat patrols, domestic violence case follow-ups, and order of protection violation checks to list a few. As a result of the enforcement details, approximately twenty-five arrests were made. The arrests included: warrant arrests, crime in progress arrests, order of protection violation arrests, foot pursuits, narcotics arrests, narcotics recoveries, and arrests of some of the Top 10 Most Wanted Individuals.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

On June 27th, 2022, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Blaydon Niles, 30, of Falconer, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Niles was pulled over for a traffic violation committed on Harrison Street in Jamestown. A DMV check of Niles revealed that his driving privileges in New York were revoked and that he was wanted by the Dunkirk Police Department. During the traffic stop, Niles was also found to be in possession of a container of fentanyl. Niles was placed under arrest, transported to SP Jamestown and processed. Niles was issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets directing him to appear in the city of Jamestown Court on a later date, and then turned over to Dunkirk Police Officers on the active warrant.

7 dogs dead, 2 injured after being shot in Crawford County

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Seven dogs were killed and two others were injured after being shot in Crawford County, according to an animal shelter in Erie. The ANNA Shelter's Animal Cruelty Division said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that an officer responded to a "brutal massacre." The shelter said the owners of the nine dogs left town, leaving a friend to watch the animals. When the owners returned home, they found that seven of their dogs were dead and two were critically injured, the shelter said. All nine dogs were German Shepherds, ages eight months to 5 years old. "The two survivors were triaged and stabilized here in Erie. One was transported to a critical care specialist veterinarian in Pittsburgh with three bullets lodged in his shoulder, hip and jaw. He will be undergoing emergency surgery shortly," the post said.It is not clear if anyone has been charged. No update was available on the condition of the two surviving dogs.  Anyone with information can call 814-572-5913.

Jamestown Man Charged with Felony Criminal Contempt in Falconer

A Jamestown man was arrested on a felony charge after Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies and Ellicott Town Police were called to the area of Main Street in Falconer for a reported argument between two people on the sidewalk on Wednesday. Police arrived on scene at about 3:15 PM and found that 25-year-old Travis Estus was allegedly in violation of an order of protection.
