On the morning of Wednesday, May 25, 2022, Prestonsburg 911 received a complaint that a vehicle that was potentially related to an active Kentucky State Police investigation had been located in Prestonsburg. Prestonsburg Police Officers responded to the scene and confirmed the make and model of the vehicle.

Man’s body found in eastern Ky.

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) - A man’s body was found Wednesday in the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River in Prestonsburg, the Floyd County coroner said. The body was discovered around 3:45 p.m. in the Riverside Drive area, and the coroner pronounced the man dead. He said the victim had been dead for quite some time.

Johnson Co Woman Arrested after Attacking Family Member

A Johnson Co woman was arrested over the weekend on a felony assault charge, after she allegedly attacked a family member. According to reports, the incident happened Saturday night in Paintsville when the woman, identified as 49 year-old Sheila Wells of Paintsville and her male cousin were allegedly drinking, but when he got up to leave, he said she attacked him with a large kitchen knife and stabbed him in the throat and shoulder. Wells allegedly admitted to Police that she did cut the man and he wasn’t violent and didn’t threaten her in anyway. Sheila Wells was arrested Saturday night by the Paintsville Police Dept. and has been charged with first-degree assault. She was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
