Man arrested after fire in Madera, police say

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Madera police officers say they arrested a man after a fire near Highway 99 and Cleveland Avenue. Officers say they responded to a fire along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 north of Cleveland Avenue. When officers arrived they found the fire on the westside of an open field in the 1200 block of Gateway Drive.

‘A Fun Family Tradition’: 5-Year-Old Crowned Champion Of Calaveras County’s 2022 Jumping Frog Jubilee

CALAVERAS COUNTY (CBS13) — Mark Twain wrote “The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of Calaveras County,” and more than a century-and-a-half later, the competition is hotter than ever. The jubilee just crowned their newest champion, 5-year-old Nolan Moncrief and his frog “Old Papa,” named after Nolan’s grandfather. The Gustine Frog Team leaped into victory. “We just try to make it a fun family tradition,” said Nicole Moncrief, Nolan’s mom. The family team has competed in the Jumping Frog Jubilee for decades. “My grandparents and aunt and uncle actually started the tradition.
