Matthew Hernandez is being held in the La Crosse County jail on a $50,000 cash bond. The 41-year-old is charged with five counts of felony bail jumping, three counts of disorderly conduct as a repeater, one count of battery, and one count of intimidating a victim.

Two people have been shot, and one of them has died, in an early Sunday morning incident in the 1900 block of South 7th Street, near Gundersen. La Crosse police say a call of shots fired came in shortly before 1:30 a.m. Officers found an individual who had been shot multiple times, and life-saving measures were performed, but the victim died. A second person who was shot is being treated at a local hospital.
